Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 8, 2026
ChopVid ("we," "our," or "us") operates the ChopVid service, which helps users create short-form video clips from publicly available YouTube content. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account and authentication data
When you create an account or sign in, we may collect identifiers such as your email address, user ID, and authentication tokens provided by our identity provider. We use this information to operate your account, secure access, and communicate with you about the Service.
1.2 Service usage and content data
When you submit a video URL or request processing, we collect data needed to perform the Service: for example, job identifiers, processing status, generated clip metadata (such as titles or timestamps we derive), storage locations, and related technical logs. We may process transcripts or other derived representations of audio from source videos solely to generate clips and improve reliability of the pipeline, as described in our agreements with you.
1.3 Payment information
Paid subscriptions are processed by our payment partner (e.g., Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers; our provider handles card data subject to its own privacy policy and security certifications. We may receive limited billing details such as the last four digits of a card, subscription status, and invoice history.
1.4 Technical and device data
We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, such as IP address, browser type, device type, general location derived from IP (e.g., region or country), and timestamps. We use this data for security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and to improve performance.
1.5 Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for authentication, session management, and preferences. Where we use analytics or marketing technologies, we will describe them in product notices or cookie controls as applicable.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- Authenticate users and prevent unauthorized access;
- Process jobs, store outputs for the retention period applicable to your plan, and deliver downloads;
- Process payments and manage subscriptions;
- Communicate with you about the Service, including security alerts and transactional messages;
- Monitor and improve reliability, security, and performance;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where applicable privacy laws require a legal basis, we rely on: (a) performance of a contract with you; (b) our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights; and (c) compliance with legal obligations. Where consent is required for specific processing, we will obtain it separately.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers who assist us with hosting, storage, transcoding, analytics, authentication, payments, email delivery, and security, bound by contractual confidentiality and data-processing terms;
- Legal and safety requests when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ChopVid, our users, or others;
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice where required.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Generated clips and related artifacts may be deleted automatically after the retention window stated in your plan or product documentation. Account data may be retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backup, audit, and legal compliance.
6. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords and protect your credentials.
7. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or other mechanisms permitted by applicable law.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at info.aiadsynth@gmail.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
